How to stop the drug wars
Today is another nice day here in Iowa. This morning we sent down to Lucas to visit one of my wifes’ brothers and his wife. They raise dogs for sale, among all the other critters they have on their farm. Nice drive down there and back. But 6 miles of newly laid gravel road to get to their farm and 6 miles back does take a toll on the van. But at least this time on that narrow road, did not have to follow a tractor or other farm implement.
A HUNDRED years ago a group of foreign diplomats gathered in Shanghai for the first-ever international effort to ban trade in a narcotic drug. On February 26th 1909 they agreed to set up the International Opium Commission—just a few decades after Britain had fought a war with China to assert its right to peddle the stuff. Many other bans of mood-altering drugs have followed. In 1998 the UN General Assembly committed member countries to achieving a “drug-free world” and to “eliminating or significantly reducing” the production of opium, cocaine and cannabis by 2008.

The prospective father-in-law asked, “Young man, can you support a family?”
The surprised groom-to-be replied, “Well, no. I was just planning to support your daughter. The rest of you will have to fend for yourselves.”

Why is the third hand on a watch called the second hand?
He who hesitates is not only lost,
but miles from the next exit.Kitty Wells (born Muriel Deason on 30 August 1919) is a country singer from Nashville, Tennessee, known as the Queen of Country Music. During the 1950’s she was the only female vocalist to consistently hit the top of the country charts and her stardom was on the same level as the biggest male vocalists of the period.
Wells’ success in the 1950’s and 1960’s was so enormous that she still ranks as the sixth most successful female vocalist in the history of the Billboard country charts according to historian Joel Whitburn’s book “The Top 40 Country Hits”, behind Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire, Tammy Wynette, and Tanya Tucker.
