    Doctor Visit this AM

Had a doctor appointment this morning. Visited with the urologist that had done the bladder operation. He went into detail about the mass he cut out and it is nothing to worry about. But he did notice that the tubes leading from the bladder to the left kidney looked like they had the same flowery mass he cut out of bladder. But he could not go further at the time because he lacked a specialized scope to do so. The hospital here did not have that scope. So he gave us the procedure he wants to do. The first is to have an IVP of the kidneys and entire urinary system. Next monday morning, I go back to the hospital for this procedure. They will take x-rays of everything. He said once he gets the x-rays and looks at everything closely, he can then make a better prognosis of what to do next. At worse is an exploratory up the tubes to be done in Des Moines hospital this time. He said once he is up there, he can better see what he needs to do to clean out the tubes and also look at the left kidney to make sure all is okay. Guess it will be more time for me in a hospital, but like I told him, get it all done right the first time asap.

Then we went grocery shopping. Made some good scores as we got about 4 pounds of broccoli (damn good stuff, eat it as I do) for 99 cents! Plus for 99 cents got a package of sweet corn already shucked (8 ears) and then at 49 cents a package of small plums (nice, not sweet and not sour, kind of inbetween) with about 5 huge white fleshed nectarines and 3 limes. Limes alone were 40 cents as I was going to buy some before we saw that package. Plus some good prices on fresh meat at the meat counter.

On the way out, across the street is a small place that sells soft serve ice cream. Wife for a week wanted to go and get a waffle cone and either a quart or gallon of the ice cream. And I was ready myself. Well, they do not open until 11 am, so we were out of luck!

Oh, have to tell you the best damn cleaner in the world is found here at Dollar General Stores. We discovered this cleaner down in Texas years ago and use it for any cleaning job. Comes in a spray bottle and is called AWESOME. Only $1.00 but it out cleans any cleaner found! If you can, get this cleaner.

Then stopped at Kum & Go for gas as it was $2.19 a gallon! That was 20 cents a gallon cheaper than the K&G here in town. Filled up the van and got a free paper for doing so (whoopie, the Des Moines Register).

Nice and cool today, even with the sun shining away. Going to water all the gardens (yes even the neighbor ladies) later on this afternoon or in the evening before it gets dark.

And enjoying ice tea right now with half a lime. Something about lime in ice tea kicks it up a few notches above lemon.

    Doctor Appointment in Morning

Okay, tomorrow morning bright and early I am off (with my wife) to meet with my urologist. First to make sure my bladder is doing okay. Then to go through all the options of what to do about my left kidney. For sure, he said he wants to go into the tubes that connect the kidney to the bladder to see what is there and what has to be done. Plus possibly do more to see if the left kidney is fully functioning, partially functioning, or maybe not really functioning at all. Altogether, something that has been worrying wife a little bit more than me. Not much though! But at least tomorrow I and wife will be more informed about everything and all the options open.

Okay, our poor neighbor written in last post. They did go into her bladder and the doctor said he removed most of the mass. He said that she would be healing up for about 6 to 8 weeks. Then if she chooses, she goes into chemotherapy to hopefully wipe out the rest of the cancer. Still a rough go for her and we still pray for her.

Did the other day open up a new blog. It is a blog that will be only about directories. Do go visit and check it out, kind of bare at present, but over time it will have more posts about directories, directory scripts, etc. The blog is the Directory Daily Blog.

This evening was the homecoming parade for the local school. Yes, a parade! Complete with fire departments (ours and other local towns), some political yahoos in convertibles (have a parade, you know politicians will be in), and more. Quite interesting and we enjoyed it. If for no other reason than our granddaughter being on one of the floats. Yes, this year she is a cheerleader for the school football team and they had a float just for the cheerleading squad, all yelling and jumping up and down the school cheers.

    Some Thoughts, Our Neighbor, More

First our poor neighbor. One of our neighbors is in her late 80′s. Very wonderful lady. I always water her gardens and her potted plants. Told him a few years back, you leave the hose alone! Anyways, she has been hurting for about 2 weeks. Her son and daughter-in-law took her to the hospital, but they found nothing and gave her some stuff to drink to help her have bm’s (bowel movements). So after a few days of her in pain, and crying while talking to her, her daughter-in-law came by with some stuff that she had to take that would make her good. Well, my wife got the phone numbers of her son and daughter-in-law so we would have a contact point if something happened to our neighbor. End of last week, I was staying up late watching her place as her light was on past midnight, very unusual for her. I was getting ready to get wife up and have her check, when the light went out. Next day, she was in bad pain! So our next door neighbor got her to call her son and they came and took her to Des Moines hospital. Well, after some tests, they said probably her gall bladder.

Now her regular doctor came the next day and they ran an ultrasound on her and nope, not gall bladder, but a mass found in her upper colon. So he did a colonoscopy and ouch to no ends, found it was a cancerous mass. So today they were to operate on her to find out how bad that mass is (is it no growth, slow growth or fast growth) and what they can do. Have not heard yet, but the doctor said no way all that mass can be safely taken out. So she may have to undergo chemotherapy and take all kinds of medicine.

We have been praying for her to recover, but to be truthful, at this time it does not sound too promising. Take a moment out of your busy life and say a short prayer for our neighbor.

Weather here has been awesome! Not too warm and just cool enough to really want to stay outside all day long. No rain yet this month and the forecast does not look good for any rain in the next 5-8 days.

Tomatoes! Wife and I been picking a lot of tomatoes from our plants. Today wife canned up some tomatoes and also canned up just tomato juice. Did not make salsa. But wife said next batch of tomatoes, will have to get cilantro, jalapeno peppers and limes and she will make several jars or more of salsa. Plus she diced up some green bell peppers (our so-called jalapeno plants!) and put them in the freezer.

Now football! Hawkeyes won over the Cyclones last Saturday. Made everyone here happy. And watched lots of good college games and NFL games over the weekend and last night. Got to love football season! And the fantasy football league we are in? I have a team, wife has a team. And my team took number one this week! Yep, beat everyone else. And number two team was my wife! We took top honors this week, but a lot of weeks left before the season is over. Will see where we place next week.

Who in the hell is Jimmy Carter? That ex president who speaks with a forked tongue? Who has to inject himself into too many things when he should be home eating his freaking peanuts! Now he mouths off that Congressman Joe Wilson’s outburst to President Barack Obama last week was an act “based on racism.” Carter says Wilson’s comment was part of an “inherent feeling” of some in this country who feel that a black man should not be president.

Carter called Wilson’s comment “dastardly” and said the president should be treated with respect.

He is so out of touch and such an idiot! Except for the liberals who love that old fart, no one pays attention to him. And this latest idiot bonehead move by him proves he is out there so far on the left, Pelosi is to his right hand side.

Looks like Obamacare, as the health care reform is so quaintly called, will be rushed through without much if any input from the Republican party. Yet another sign that Obama lied to us to get elected! Yeah right on President Obama with your partisanship!

The Obama administration unveiled tough new fuel economy standards Tuesday in hopes of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a move that earned praise from environmentalists and harsh criticism from energy-state Republicans. In other words, he is pushing standards and the hell with what anyone but his socialists buddies think or want! Yet another example of the Obama administration’s ‘government knows best’ mindset!

Okay, that is all for my thoughts on how our president, ex-presidents and our government is out to screw all of us but good and without allowing us to us any lube!

    Weird items

First the dad, my dad who lives in Maine. Well, got word from my sister on all the tests they gave him to find out why he has these off and on dizzy spells. Nope, the medical community said they could not find anything that would lead them to why he has these dizzy spells. So, he is back home and thinks he is 100% OK! Geesh….still has dizzy spells, but now says nothing wrong with him as the doctors said so.

Went to Des Moines this morning and visited with Aunt Louise. She is doing good and very darn happy that my wife brought her some homemade bread pudding. She is a celiac, but the nurse and the doctor took her off restricted diet and put her on general diet, so she can eat anything she wants. And her eyes jumped big when she saw the bread pudding. Almost forgot that one of my wife’s brothers does have celiac disease! So he is not too happy about the whole thing.

Then we stopped to fill up the van with gas ($2.249 per gallon) and came on home.

Wife made from scratch some super buns to have with the bacon, lettuce, etc. Great way to have a BLT! I say BLT even though neither of us would ever use lettuce in any kind of sandwich. Plus a loaf of cinnamon/raisin bread (delicious with butter!).

    Now for some weird items:
