Too darn bright and early this morning, had to get up, shower and shave, dress. Just to get to the dentist for a 730am appointment. Should be laws about retired people having to get up so early.

Was an emergency appointment, as my front tooth decided to start giving me some good pain in the past 3 days or so. It is a cap and was over the nerve endings. Not pleasant as anything cold or hot came in contact with that tooth, it let me know it was not happy about it. So yesterday when we got in from Missouri, wife called dentist to get me in asap. They had a cancellation and thus I got in at 730am this morning.

First they took an x-ray of the problem tooth/cap. Then he gave me the bad news. Root canal time! Told him, bring on the gas and lots of it if you are going to do that (remember the last time I had root canal work done). He said, no gas here. Just an anesthetic and we are good to go. So I said get to it. Swab and 2 shots and soon my front tooth was numb, and strange it did not travel up to my lip or nose.

Drilled the cap from the back to get inside. And started to work on it. Really was fast and except for one time him hitting the nerve, no pain at all. Then another x-ray to make sure he got the job done right and it was time to clean it and fill up the hole. Then another x-ray to make sure everything was okay and to his liking. Oh, and until the last x-ray was taken, I had to keep my mouth open the entire time. Told him, I am not a woman. (you figure it out, he got it right away and laughed….but not the nurse for some reason)

Now I have to not bite into anything for about 2 days or so. Got to remember, eat on the sides, don’t chomp down on food using front teeth. Drinking coffee, but no pain like before. Plus he gave me a prescription for some pain medication so I can endure it for a few days. But hey, I am TOUGH! Did not get it filled (wife said, wait until tonight and you will hate yourself for not getting it filled). Really, so far not any pain or even small twinges of pain. Really think I am good to go now.

Someone on twitter asked me if I got pictures of all this. Heck no, did not even think about it. If I had, I would have brought the camera and had some pictures taken along the way. Oh, and no blood, so the pictures would have been clean.
