Football Today
Wife is wondering why I am back on the computer and not watching the football game, as it is now into second half of the game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles. Oh, at present the Cardinals in the lead with 24 points to the Eagles 6. Well, as soon as I punch out this post, will head into the other room and finish watching the game and prepare for the next game, Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Colts (go Colts).
Earlier this week, I saw part of the hearings for Hilary Clinton’s appointment as Secretary of State. What a love fest! No hard questions asked, and it was nothing but “Senator Clinton, love the job you have do so far in the senate and I know you will do the same as SecState”. Geesh, no pushing into her and her philandering hubby as to where all those millions come from for Billy’s library and other little deals he has going. Yeah, all those countries pouring millions to Billy and not any big push into what Hilary was going to do about it, would it affect her performance as SecState, and so forth. Just a quick gloss over and she just said blithely that it would not affect her decisions as SecState as that was her husband’s donations. And the cotton picking senate said, oh no problem!
I have 3 other blogs that are moving up there in getting more visitors each day and each has excellent information about domains, domainers and gadgets. Should be a read for you also every day or so. At the least check each blog out and make up your own mind as to whether I am doing a good job in bringing information you want to know about.
Whiz Reviews about other bloggers and new gadgets.
Domain Name Dawg about domains and domain names.
Exposing Domains and Domainers is also about domains and domainers with different news and updates not on the Domain Name Dawg.
You can have your 125×125 banner on those 3 blogs for one year and at a great low price. Banner Advertising
Now I am out for now, seeing as how I have to watch the game when the Eagles just score a touchdown to make it 24-13. Back to rooting for the Cardinals and Kurt Warner (yes, an Iowa guy!).

Quiet Today
It’s Sunday, and awful quite around here. Grandkids went back home, let their dad deal with them until next visit.
Yesterday we made a quick trip down south to Missouri to get some cigars and cigarettes. Only a 120 mile roundtrip and worth it to save money. Figured again we save about $110 on our purchases. Spread that over the next 4 weeks and it is good to save money. But odd that while cigarettes and cigars so cheap in Missouri, no savings on beer and other alcholic products. Was going to buy some Bud Light Lime beer, but geesh, they were higher than our local grocery store. And the savings on gas were not much, as the price there was $1.689 per gallon versus $1.729 here.
I am a big time coffee drinker. Have been for almost as long as I could drink coffee. As long as the coffee is black and hot, I will drink it. Try out a lot of different brands and a lot of different flavored coffees. Got to say, despite the advertising one sees, Maxwell House is the best! Usually we get the half and half (less caffeine without going into the pure decaf, which I can not abide drinking). Even try out the expensive stuff like starbucks, dunking donuts, and more. Most are not as good as plain Maxwell House. Or my taste buds are dead? Anyways, one of our daughters gave me some Vanilla Biscotti flavored coffee by Folgers and now I find that I really am addicted to the coffee! Try it next time you go grocery shopping, it comes in bags and is a premium coffee by Folgers.
Earlier, watched the Eagles beat the Giants. Seems to me, it was the defense on both sides that played the game, as the offenses were not that good. Especially the Giants and Eli Manning, they were not really playing at all today! Now getting ready to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers play. Ack….on one hand, I do not want to see the Steelers win, yet I can not root for the Chargers. Oh well, will go with the Steelers for the first time in years.
I have been working on two new blogs (yeah, I love blogs!) and slowly building them up. One is going to be easy on updating as I am using a plugin that pulls from other blogs. Growing pains on this blog were such that on twitter I bombed all my followers with updates! See, I have my blogs set up to automatically tweet when there is an update. Like this blog will show up on twitter when I post this so that all my followers will know I updated the blog. Well, that particular blog and the plugin decided to pull every single post on a few blogs and that meant a tweet for each update. Hopefully now that is out of the way, it will work good in that now it will only tweet new updates, which should be for the blogs set up only once or twice a day, or maybe about 10-15 tweets max per day.
Do you have a blog and want me to add it to that blog? Go here and read about how I can use your blog, giving you more exposure: Published Blogs
This is another blog that pulls from some great domain and domainer blogs to keep you up to date on the world of domains and domainers. Domain Name Expose
The other new blog of mine I will talk about later.
Right now, I have to hit publish this post so I can go refill my mug with more Vanilla Biscotti coffee!

Fall Back
Did you remember to set your clocks back an hour this morning? Wife set all the clocks back last night before we went to bed. And the computer was automatic. Why can’t microwave ovens be the same way? Or the clock in our vehicles?
Also, have you checked your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms? It is good to check the batteries twice a year, and the best time to do so is when we change our clocks. Easier to remember and do.
Tuesday is coming up fast! Are you going to vote? If not, why not? Regardless of who you think is good or bad, you should still vote. One of the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for was the right to elect our own leaders. We voted by mail some time back, so we did our civic duty just as we do every election, whether it is a local election or a national election.
Those of you on Social Security will see a nice increase in your monthly checks starting January, 2009. The cost of living increase has been set at 5.98%. Myself, I always thought that an increase every year is super, but should be a set amount more than enough to cover increases in the cost of living. We are not on social security, doubt if we will ever get social security as the government still will not eliminate the windfall provision of those who get a government pension. EG: there is an offset penalty in social security versus government pension. So though we paid into social security, we will see very little of that as we are on a government pension.
Quick recap on the college football games yesterday:
Iowa Hawkeyes lost by a field goal against Illinois.
Oklahoma Sooners trounced Nebraska 62-28. Should help them move up from number 4.
And a super exciting game between Texas Tech and Texas! It was a nailbiter to the last second of the game. But Texas Tech did it and won by a score of 39-33! Knocks Texas out of number one position and when the polls come out later today, Texas Tech has a good chance of being the new number one.Today we will be watching some good pro football.
My rant on advertising and those webmasters who love only page rank! I offer free advertising on several sites and it is funny the number of webmasters who pm me on forums or email me and say they would like to advertise but this site or that site does not have page rank. Geesh, it is free advertising! Same with my directories, those that are new and have no page rank? Some webmasters will not advertise even if it is free and for sure, some get bent out of shape that I actually have a fee for featured links on a directory with no page rank. I opened up a new bid directory this past week and got blasted on one forum because it is new and has no page rank. Oh well, their loss. Same with selling advertising on some of my sites and blogs. Too many webmasters obsess about page rank and will not spend the money to advertise on sites and blogs with no page rank. To these webmasters, it is not traffic that counts, but page rank!
Which leads me to another rant! Those webmasters who take a page ranked domain and make it a new directory. Then proclaim to the world that their new directory is page ranked! At least until the next page rank update. Or the slimy webmasters who redirect page ranked domains to their directory or site and then proceed to sell ads and listings based on what is really faked page rank. The whole concept of buying and selling links based on page rank and not traffic is bizarre.
Mushrooms! Lots of pictures of many types of mushrooms on this site.

Saturday Football
Got to love saturdays in the fall! All those college football games on cable to watch. And that is what I am doing right now, watching football, flipping channels to see more games. And tonight? Got to be one of the best games to watch today, as two unbeaten teams take on each other. Yep, Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Raiders. Promised myself, do not root for either team!
The stakes have never been higher in the series with Texas and Tech both 8-0. The winner will be in the driver’s seat in the Big 12 South and up for a possible spot in the BCS national title game. Must watch game tonight brought live from Lubbock, Texas!
Weather has been great the past few days, and today is no different. Sun out, slight breeze, just a beautiful fall day in Iowa. After the cold and rainy weather, it is needed here so the farmers can harvest their corn and soybeans. Across the street, both fields are being harvested now.
