Snowing
Well, started snowing here about an hour ago. Still coming down heavy and from the radar map I looked at, it seems it will be about another hour to an hour and a half of snowfall. But I doubt we will get more than 2, maybe 3, inches of white. It does make for a pretty sight right now.
Our neighbor came over, she was visiting another neighbor as she does every morning for tea and gossip (come on, we know whenever two women get together, they love to gossip) and when she opened the door to leave, she told Mary that the snow is coming down earlier than they thought. She just stopped by to make sure I had the shovel ready. And of course, our dog Coco went out and headed straight for her door. So Katherine went back taking Coco with her and wife went over after a minute or two. Coco must visit Katherine every morning or else she whines. Katherine gives her plenty of treats, but that does not stop Coco from coming back and wanting more treats from me. Going to be taking her out after I finish posting.
My life has a superb cast,
but I can’t figure out the plot.Ever get the feeling that now our president is not speaking spontaneously? That he now uses a scripted message and reads from a teleprompter? Noticed this and wonder how many of you noticed it also? His speech in Elkhart Indiana, was really typical, when he would look to the left to speak, and then to the right, and then back again, over and over and over, reading from the teleprompters at each side, out of view of the cameras. If you concentrated on the people behind him, every time he looked to the left, so did they. When he switched to the right, they did as well. It looked like a tennis match, and they were reading his speech right along with his delivery.
While he may appear to be prepared and forceful, he is not doing anything a smart ”fifth grader” couldn’t do, and not the person we voted for. This is not the time for that kind of approach. In light of our current crisis, if he is truly to be our domestic leader and the Commander in Chief of our Military, our Country needs, nay demands, frank, unscripted answers.
And yes, the above is my opinion. I just think he is not giving us his views or his ideas, but the views and ideas of those who write his speeches.
Support bacteria — they’re the only culture some people have.
Our three grandchildren who live with their dad in Des Moines are due in this afternoon, along with their mother. Hope the snow does not impede our daughter picking up the three and their mother (other daughter). Will be nice to have them here for the weekend. Probably have the girls and other daughter spend the night with us and the boys will have their night out tomorrow night (ritual for them, so they can watch movies and channels on tv that are inapropriate for them to watch any other time, this according to our autistic grandson, who is a hoot to watch). And of course, to drink as much pepsi and mountain dew as they can handle.
Hint for everyone: Between now and May, when the USPS raises the cost of first class postage from 42 cents to 44 cents, go to your post office and stock up on Freedom Stamps. These stamps cost you at current postage but will suffice for any postage increase in the future. Myself, I plan to get enough of these stamps to last 4 to 6 months. Yes, they are self stick. Just a way to save a few pennies each time you mail out a letter, card or bill. Or just shake up all your family and friends and mail out your Christmas cards early!

Snowing!
It is snowing here, has been since very early this morning. Looks so nice outside, everything covered in fresh snow. By my unofficial measurement, we have got not quite 2 inches so far. It is a light powdery snow, and that means Coco our dog enjoyed her romp a little while ago. Should stop snowing shortly, and forecast is for more later this afternoon and possibly this evening.
We will be heading down to Missouri tomorrow morning. With the high cigarette tax here in Iowa, it is cheaper to go down to Missouri and buy a few cartons. Yes, we are smokers, so don’t give us any grief! To show the difference in costs between Iowa and Missouri, a carton of the little cigars I like cost about $28.00 here but in Missouri, the cost is $8.54! Now, is it worth us driving 100 miles or so round trip to save about $20 a carton? Heck yes!
Something to ponder about as you celebrate Christmas if you are a christian: Christmas is not the celebration of the exact day Jesus was born. At Christmas we celebrate THAT HE WAS BORN.
I ran across this and it is also something to ponder: Mike Vis hooks a pump to a grain silo in Minnesota and siphons out enough of his corn to feed 91 people for a year. This batch will fuel vehicles in Houston for 21 seconds. Read the full article here: Corn
You think you have it rough with your shoes? Think about this poor person whenever you head to the shoe store for a new pair.

Snowing!
Okay, we had a very enjoyable Thanksgiving with our son and his family down in Missouri. Our daughter, her husand and 2 kids followed us down to Missouri Thursday afternoon. Left here about 330pm and arrived about 630pm. We stopped one time to get gas and a few other items (like unload the grandkids into the bathroom!). Man, gas $1.41 a gallon!
We had our Thanksgiving dinner Friday. Nice turkey and great ham, plus all the fixings and different kinds of pie. Surprising how much can be made with 4 women in the kitchen! I believe everyone ate their fill, and then some.
We all enjoyed ourselves, the kids having a blast together. No fighting amongst all those kids, and they actually obeyed the adults! Had plenty there to keep everyone busy, movies, tv (wide screen in 4 rooms!), pool table, wii and xbox and ps3.
Left Saturday afternoon about 130pm, stopped for gas and to get some coffee. Then it was driving from then on in snow/rain mix. Yes, starting snowing with a bit of rain mixed in that morning and we drove in it all the way to Iowa when it became just snow. And it has been snowing here ever since. Have about 2 inches or so on the ground now. Plows busy keeping the roads cleared. And our dog enjoying romping in the snow (so far, wait until it is higher than her). Oh, we left Coco, our dog, home on this trip with a neighbor boy taking care of her. He also took care of our daughter’s dogs. So Coco was happy as can be when we got home yesterday. She does not eat much while we are gone, so she chowed down once she knew we were home for good.
On the way home, we all stopped at one place just before the Iowa line to again hit the bathrooms plus get cigarettes as they are cheaper in Missouri. Heck, my little cigars I like are $3.09 a pack here but I bought cartons of them while there for $8.54 per carton! Nice savings right there….
Waiting now for the BCS college football standings to come out. Watched Oklahoma Sooners win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. So that leaves in the Big 12 a 3-way tie with Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech. Hoping that Oklahoma moves up to number two in the BCS standings today. Now if Alabama can lose their last game, I would be very happy to see the Sooners on top again!
Something I came across this morning. Even happen to you that you have a stuck pixel on your monitor? Happened only one time to me and it was easy to fix. So if you have a stuck pixel, before you rush off to buy a new monitor, go to this website and use one or more of the fixes that may work for you and save you buying a new monitor. Just go to: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/best-software-solutions-to-fix-a-stuck-pixel-on-your-lcd-monitor/
Okay, got two great pro football games on tv, so have to close out this post for the day. But first, check out some of these sites of mine. May be of interest to you.

Snowing
Wife decided today to clean out the closet here in the office. Griped about all the computer stuff that is in there and I won’t throw away. But cleared out quite a bit of floppy discs! Plus a bunch of cd’s we never use, and more. The printer that was in there is going to Goodwill next time we are in town (unless I trash it first).
Then took out trash and the burnable trash. Started SNOWING! Yes, about 45 minutes ago, fine snow was coming down, not enough to cover anything. But it has now ended for now. Cold outside of course, at around freezing, with a windchill of around 24. More such snow off and on the rest of the day and into tomorrow morning is forecasted.
